Speaking at the General Debate of the 72nd Session of the United National General Assembly, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan referred to the Cyprus issue and stated that the latest comprehensive negotiation process in Cyprus, which began in 2008, ended without reaching a solution due to the incomprehensible attitude of the Greek Cypriot side.

Erdoğan said, “We are doing our best concerning the natural resources that have been discovered in the Eastern Mediterranean in recent years, in order to provide peace, stability, and prosperity on the island and we are open to proposals providing that they respect the rights of the Turkish Cypriots.”
