Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kudret Özersay has stated that the project for the Turkish Cypriots living abroad, is not a project of population, but instead a project of voluntary registration of the Turkish Cypriots living abroad for strengthening their bonds as well as of facilitating the return of those who want to come back to the TRNC.

Speaking to the Turkish News Agency, Özersay noted that the project will involve a study of economic, social and other relevant conveniences.

Kudret Özersay stated that they have started a questionnaire study with Turkish Cypriots living abroad as to make sure that the project is realistic and applicable. He added that last week the first questionnaire study started in the UK, as part of the project aimed at Turkish Cypriots living in the UK, Turkey and Australia.
