Addressing the Cyprus negotiations yesterday, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, Ambassador Hüseyin Müftüoğlu stated that the “Date of the five -party conference which will be held with the attendance of the guarantors should be decided without delay,” and added that the continuation of negotiations “will benefit both sides”.
According to a statement on the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s website, Müftüoğlu responded to a question on the Cyprus negotiations in Switzerland by saying: ‘‘Despite all efforts and the good intentions of the Turkish side, intensified negotiations in Switzerland held between 20 – 21 November between Greek Cypriot leader, Nicos Anastasiades and President Mustafa Akıncı, ended without a solution. We think that a very important opportunity has been missed in this critical phase of the process” he added.
“Turkey’s determination to find a viable solution to the Cyprus issue continues” said Hüseyin Müftüoğlu.
