The Founding Rector of Girne American University and the Head of the Board of Directors Serhat Akpınar stated that GAU’s Sri Lanka campus whose formation stage has been completed, has been tried to be prevented by the Greek Cypriot Foreign Ministry.

In his statement Akpınar stated that the ongoing process of the GAU Global Campus formation program with Sri Lanka Metropolitan College has been completed, and GAU is facing serious obstacles from the Sri Lanka Region Consulate with the instruction of the Greek Cypriot Foreign Ministry.

Akpınar also indicated that GAU’s investment partner asked them to leave the partnership of the Sri Lanka Campus formation process rapidly.
