Akıncı: “It is time to show will and political determination for both sides”

President Mustafa Akıncı emphasized that in order to conclude the negotiation process in 2015 which started in 1968, it is time to show will and political determination for both sides. In his speech of after receiving Speaker of the Assembly Sibel Siber, President Akıncı said that he will establish an interactive dialogue with the assembly and non-governmental organizations during the negotiation process and it will be done as soon as possible. He also said that he was elected as a president in a difficult period when the expectations of the community is so high, “if the expectations are high, they become heavier as well. Difficulties are increasing evenly.”

President Mustafa Akıncı pointed out that the dinner was a “good start” with the leader of the Greek Cypriot Administration. Akıncı also said that he will inform the community in every step and he asked positive contribution of the press on both sides to the process. President Akıncı emphasized that it is time for a solution and he continued: “We want to conclude the negotiation process in 2015 which started in 1968. It means we are talking about half a century. That’s why; I believe that we negotiated about everything substantially at this stage. Of course we will do more. There are some uncertain points. It is no doubt we will discuss them as well, but as a result it is time to show will and political determination for both sides.”
