Greek Cypriot side and Greece decide to set up Defence Academy

It is noted that despite calling for demilitarisation, the Greek Cypriot side is preparing to establish a Military Defence Academy. Whilst discussions of confidence building measures are continuing, it is written that the Greek Cypriot side is trying to bring discussions focusing on military presence, guarantees amongst others. However the Greek Cypriot side has decided to establish a wide based defence and strategy based Defence Academy. The academy is aiming to have academicians on Security Sciences; it will be known as the National Defence University. Security Sciences expert Dr. Kasapoğlu who spoke to the paper commented that whilst the negotiations continued conducting work on such an academy was ‘two-faced’.
