6 June, 2016Stating that differences are not obstacles for living together in peace, having different language, religion and culture is the richness, President Akıncı said that the important thing is to be able to solve the problem with love and in a peaceful way.
President Akıncı and the Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiades came together at the Home for Cooperation in the buffer zone at an event organized by the bi-communal Technical Committee on Education in respect of the World Children Day.
Speaking at the event, President Akıncı said “Sometimes adults have difficulty in communicating with each other but children can do this so easily. Even if some of you live in South Cyprus and some live in North Cyprus, Cyprus is your common country. Although we sometimes face problems, with my friend Nikos from time to time, we are here to create the conditions for you to come together more often. Our whole effort lies in leaving you a legacy where you can live in this country in peace, happiness and prosperity. We are aiming for a united, federal Cyprus which will be the most beautiful country, an example, where you will work in peace, freedom, equality and security. You have the right to live in such a country”.
In his speech, Anastasiades said: “Our country which is the common country for all, must give you the opportunity, through peace, to create together, to have a prospect and a future, and this is the obligation both on my shoulders and those of my friend Mustafa”.
