22 December, 2016Akıncı: “The two Cypriot sides and the three guarantor countries will participate in the conference in Geneva”
23 December, 2016Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün has stated that the Turkish Cypriot side supports a possible solution in the island, and that “in any agreement that is reached it must be agreed that the same things we have experienced in the past will not happen again.”
Prime Minister Özgürgün and Interior Minister Kutlu Evren visited the Association of Martyrs’ Families and War Veterans for the 21-25 December Struggle and Martyrs Week, where Özgürgün made a statement.
Özgürgün expressed that the “Turkish Cypriot people have passed through a very difficult time to reach where we are today and we have begun to live in peace thanks to the Cyprus Peace Operation.”
Touching upon the Cyprus issue, Özgürgün stressed that any agreement that is reached should be based on the two states’ political equality, bi-zonality, and Turkey’s full and effective guarantee.
Prime Minister Özgürgün also noted that an agreement without these criteria would never be accepted.
