18 May, 2017UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has said that it is possible that the UN and both sides of the Cyprus issue could convene a new Conference if the sides believe it could take place effectively.
Guterres also endorsed an active role to be taken by the UN in ensuring that a solution is reached. UN Secretary General Guterres made the comments having addressed the General Council of the European Parliament.
Guterres and EP President Tajani held a joint press conference afterwards. During the meeting, Guterres did not rule out the possibility of a new Conference if requested by the TRNC and Greek Cypriots.
