6 November, 2017Hüseyin Ertan Ali, who was murdered by Greek Cypriot militants while traveling from Lefkoşa to Lefke on his school holidays on 6 February 1964, was laid to rest with a military ceremony in Lefke this week. His remains were found and identified recently by the Committee on Missing Persons.
The remains of Hüseyin Ertan Ali were found in a well at Koççinodrimitya village, near the Ayvasıl village.
Hüseyin Ertan Ali was born in 1945 and was studying at Lefkoşa Turkish High School at the time of his death. He had travelled to Lefke in February 1964 in order to spend the school holiday with his family, but no news was received from him after he left on 6 February 1964.
Following the funeral prayers, Martyr Hüseyin Ertan Ali was laid to rest at the Lefke Martyrdom.
