27 December, 2018President Mustafa Akıncı said that minority community status has never been valid in Cyprus and will never be valid. Akıncı stressed that the Greek Cypriot leadership should change its mentality regarding this issue.
In his speech during a meeting yesterday (25th December), Akıncı said that a new initiative has started for the solution of the Cyprus problem, there are some cornerstones and political equality is the most important condition for solution of the Cyprus problem.
Adding that there will not be majority-minority relationship in a possible solution and this was also registered by the UN, President Akıncı said that there will be political equality between the two communities in a solution to be reached.
Furthermore, Akıncı stressed that political equality also includes active participation in all decisions.
