20 March, 2019Spokesperson of the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Barış Burcu stated that President Akıncı would attend the bi-communal football match organized by ‘Peace and Sport’ only if it takes place at the buffer zone near the mixed village of Pyla, as he was initially told, and not in the Greek Cypriot side.
Spokesperson Burcu also pointed out in his written statement that President Akıncı is ready to evaluate with goodwill and a positive approach any bi-communal sports events in future if they will be organized as one phase in the South and the other in the North, as was the case in cultural events previously.
