16 July, 2019Prime Minister Tatar issued a message on the anniversary of July 15, 1974, coup carried out by the Greek Junta and said that the Greek Cypriot side’s mentality has not changed and for the sake of ENOSIS they are rejecting every single proposal for an agreement.
He also underlined that the coup carried out by the Greek Junta on 15 July 1974 was the outcome of the Greek-Greek Cypriot dream of making Cyprus a Greek Island and that dream was the motivation of the 1963 attacks against Turkish Cypriots which ended with the collapse of the federal partnership state. Tatar also pointed out that on the 15th July 1974, Nikos Sampson, a member of Greek Cypriot terrorist organization EOKA, staged a coup with the aim of annexing the island to Greece and Turkey implemented a Peace Operation on 20 July 1974, following the call of the Turkish Cypriots in Cyprus, in order to protect the security of life and property of the Turkish Cypriots by using her rights arising from the International Alliance and Guarantee Agreements.
The Prime Minister concluded his message saying that the Greek Cypriot side’s mentality regarding the Cyprus Issue has not changed for 45 years and for the sake of ENOSIS they are rejecting every single proposal for an agreement adding that Turkish Cypriots should not overlook what would have happened if Turkey had not carried out a peace operation using her rights arising from the International Alliance and Guarantee Agreements.
