6 November, 2020President Ersin Tatar received the British High Commissioner Stephen Lillie on Thursday (5 November 2020). According to a statement released by the TRNC Presidency, Lillie congratulated President Tatar for his election as the TRNC President.
President Tatar for his part expressed his vision that is based on sovereign equality and brought the issue of direct flights to the agenda. Tatar also emphasised the importance of the removal of the restrictions and isolations imposed on the Turkish Cypriot people.
The President said that he expects the UK to contribute to eliminating the discrimination that the international community has imposed against the Turkish Cypriot people so far.
During the meeting, Tatar’s meeting with Greek Cypriot Leader Nikos Anastasiades was also discussed as well as Maraş, hydrocarbons and other issues.
