TRNC’s Consul-General Mendeli: ‘This is the first time that an international association recognised an organisation related to the TRNC’

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Consul-General in Mersin Zalihe Mendeli stated that it is for the first time that an international association has recognised an organisation related to the TRNC and the swimming performance between Mersin and TRNC has been included in the ‘Performance of the Year’ voting.

Mendeli pointed out that the application to the World Open Water Swimming Association for the recognition of the ‘Peace Route Swim Crossing’ between Turkey’s Mersin City and the TRNC has been accepted. Mendeli underlined that the request was made by the Hacettepe University Youth and Sports Club Association in consequence of the initiatives of the TRNC Mersin Consulate General and Yenişehir Municipality.

Mendeli also added that the swimming performance between Mersin and TRNC has been included in the ‘Performance of the Year’ voting, which can be voted by visiting the web page https://openwaterswimming.com/performance-of-the-year/
