25 January, 2022Early Parliamentary Elections for the Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, consisting of fifty deputies, were held yesterday (23 January 2022).
400 candidates from eight parties as well as three independents contested in the elections.
Chairman of the Supreme Election Board Narin Ferdi Şefik made a statement to BRT regarding the number of deputies issued by political parties in the regions, after the sealed votes in all ballot boxes were counted.
Unofficial results announced by the TRNC Higher Electoral Council (YSK):
16 deputies in Nicosia; National Unity Party (UBP) 7, Republican Turkish Party (CTP) 6, Democrat Party (DP) 1, Rebirth Party (YDP) 1, People’s Party (HP) 1;
13 deputies in Gazimağusa: UBP 6, CTP 4, DP 1, YDP 1, HP 1;
11 deputies in Girne: UBP 5, CTP 4, DP 1, HP 1;
3 deputies Güzelyurt: UBP 2, CTP 1;
5 deputies in İskele: UBP 3, CTP 2;
2 deputies in Lefke: UBP 1, CTP 1
