27 January, 2023Statement by the TRNC Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2674 (2023)
30 January, 2023TRNC President Ersin Tatar warned that if the two-state solution model put on the negotiation table in Cyprus is not accepted, the island will remain permanently divided and the natural gas resources in the region will remain idle, in an interview with the British newspaper, The Guardian. He also emphasized that the international community interested in the Cyprus issue should think outside the box.
President Tatar stated that the federation solution model, which has been negotiated for half a century in Cyprus, is now a waste of time and said: “After becoming a member of the EU, the Greek Cypriots do not want to share anything with the Turkish Cypriots. They regard the whole of Cyprus as a Hellenic island. There are two separate states, two separate peoples and two separate cultures in Cyprus, you cannot reverse the clock. Unless our solution proposal is accepted, no negotiations will start.”
