16 October, 2023Within the framework of the official visit of President Ersin Tatar to Baku, an opening gala dinner was organised at the Hilton Hotel in Baku as part of the Cultural and Promotional Days of the TRNC.
President Tatar and his spouse Sibel Tatar, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and his spouse Zerrin Üstel, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu, Turkish Ambassador to Baku Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cahit Bağcı, TRNC Baku Representative, Ambassador Ufuk Turganer, Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Fuad Muradov, Lieutenant General Bahtiyar Ersay, Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) Secretary General Ambassador Mehmet Süreyya Er, Azerbaijan-Turkey Business Association (ATIB) President Cemal Yangın, some Azerbaijani deputy ministers, parliamentarians, rectors, businessmen and representatives from TRNC attended the dinner.
Addressing the event, Tatar expressed his pleasure at being together on such a historic day.
“As the sons and daughters of the same nation with a shared destiny, past, and hearts, we have always considered ourselves alongside our motherland, the Republic of Türkiye, and have also embraced Azerbaijan as a brotherly country,” Tatar said.
The President emphasized that the Turkish Cypriot people have never been alone in their struggle against the mentality that has sought to subjugate them under isolation and embargoes.
He underlined that the Turkish Cypriot people are an integral part of the great Turkish nation.
