15 November, 2023On the 79th anniversary of the deportation of the Ahiska Turks, which has marked the history of humanity, Minister Ertuğruloğlu has shared the sorrow of Ahiska Turks and commemorated those who lost their lives during the deportation with respect and compassion.
In his message issued due to the 79th anniversary of the deportation of Ahiska Turks, Ertuğruloğlu noted:
“As part of Stalin’s operation of clearing the cost of Black Sea from Turks, approximately 100.000 Ahiska Turks had been removed from their homes by force abruptly and by placing them into the trains, from their ancestral homeland in the Ahiska region of Georgia, they had been sent into the unknown in the remote regions of the Soviet Union on 14 November 1944.”
On the anniversary of the deportation, that marked the history of humanity, I share the sorrow of our Ahiska Turk brothers and sisters and remember those who lost their lives on exile with respect and compassion.
