Malya martyrs were commemorated at the Malia Martyrs Memorial in Aydınköy.
The event was attended by President Ersin Tatar, Speaker of Parliament Ziya Öztürkler and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.
President Ersin Tatar gave a speech at the event and stated that martyrs made the supreme sacrifice for the Turkish Cypriot community to live in peace on this land. “Turkish Cypriots struggled greatly in anguish to exist”, said President Tatar.
