Türkiye’s Center of Combating Disinformation “Drilling and seismic research vessels in the Eastern Mediterranean have not been withdrawn”

Türkiye’s Center of Combating Disinformation (DMM) of Turkish Directorate of Communications has denied claims that ‘drilling and seismic research vessels in the Eastern Mediterranean have been withdrawn.’

In a statement made on DMM’s social media account, it was stated that these claims, which have appeared in some press outlets and social media platforms in recent days, are the product of disinformation.

The statement emphasised that Türkiye is systematically continuing its oil and natural gas exploration activities within its own continental shelf and in the licence areas allocated to the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and that it remains determined to protect its rights and interests in the Eastern Mediterranean.
