Mayor of Güzelyurt Municipality and President of the Union of Turkish Municipalities of Cyprus, Mahmut Özçınar has been elected as Co-President of the United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA) and also its Committee on Environment.
In addition, Mayor of Mehmetçik-Büyükkonuk, Fatma Çimen Tuğlu has become a member of MEWA Woman, while Mayor of Çatalköy-Esentepe, Ceyhun Kırok has joined the Committee on Culture and Tourism.
Mayors Özçınar and Kırok attended the UCLG-MEWA Congress held at the Bayır Diamond Hotel & Convention Center in Konya on October 2-4.
