42nd anniversary of TRNC to be celebrated with ceremonies
14 November, 2025President Tufan Erhürman, on his first official overseas visit, on Thursday met with Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Türkiye (TBMM), as part of his official visit to Ankara.
At the meeting, which was held at the TBMM, President Erhürman extended his sincere condolences to the Turkish nation over the recent loss of 20 martyrs, offering his heartfelt sympathies and strength to their bereaved families.
Expressing his pride at being received by Speaker Kurtulmuş and his delegation at the TBMM, President Erhürman described the relationship between the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Republic of Türkiye as “a special relationship unlike that of any other two states”.
Drawing attention to the strong bonds between the TBMM and the TRNC Parliamentary Assembly, as well as the cooperation between their respective friendship groups, President Erhürman underscored the vital role of the TBMM in communicating the Turkish Cypriot people’s just cause and struggle for existence to the international community.
Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Numan Kurtulmuş, also expressed his great pleasure in hosting President Erhürman at the Turkish Grand National Assembly, and emphasised the importance of officials of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Republic of Türkiye paying their first official visits to one another following elections.
Congratulating President Erhürman on his election and offering his best wishes for success in office, Speaker Kurtulmuş emphasised the “exceptional nature of the relations between the two States”, stressing how they have steadily matured and strengthened over time.
