16 July, 2026Minister of Labour and Social Security Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu addressed the 9th of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ministerial Conference on Women, hosted by Pakistan.
In his speech, Minister Hasipoğlu stated that empowering women is one of the most strategic investments in the future and stressed that Turkish Cypriot women have made significant contributions to the country’s development.
He also called on OIC Member States to support the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’s full membership in the OIC, end the isolation on the Turkish Cypriot people, and strengthen solidarity among Member States.
Touching on the Cyprus issue, Hasipoğlu said the international community should recognize the reality of two sovereign states and two separate peoples on the island.
He stated that, with the strong support of Türkiye, efforts to overcome the effects of the isolation imposed on the Turkish Cypriot people would continue, reaffirming the government’s determination to secure the TRNC’s rightful place as an equal member of the international community.
Hasipoğlu also thanked Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for reiterating his support for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, saying the Turkish Cypriot people greatly appreciate Pakistan’s solidarity.
