Eide: “The present situation is a real opportunity to solve the Cyprus problem soon”

Speaking to reporters after his meeting with the Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kocias, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide said he was briefed on the Greek Cypriot administration’s positions with regards to the Cyprus issue. Eide noted that the international community was doing all it could to help support a settlement in Cyprus and the present situation was a real opportunity to solve the Cyprus problem soon. Speaking to reporters after his meeting with the Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kocias, Eide said that he will meet with the Greek Cypriot Leader Anastasiades and President Mustafa Akıncı today, and said that he now sees “a spirit of trust and cooperation” between the two leaders.
