Presidential spokesman Osman Ertug, has underlined that the Greek Cypriot side is using the recent UNFICYP report to continue their attacks on the Turkish Cypriot side and Turkey.

Ertug indicated that by this way the Greek Cypriot side is trying to camouflage their leaving the negotiation table and called  them to abide by the Joint Statement of February 11. Ertuğ also indicated that initiatives are continuing to overcome the deficiencies of the report.

In his written statement, Ertug drew attention to the fact that the Greek Cypriot spokesman had strongly criticised the report and is leading a blame game campaign against the Turkish Cypriot side.

Furthermore, expressing that they do not intend to give detailed response to the Greek Cypriot spakesman, Ertuğ said that by this way Christodoulides is trying to camouflage the Greek Cypriot side’s leaving the negotiation table. Ertuğ added that the Greek Cypriot side is also aiming to get the Security Council resolution to be taken in their favour and underlined that Greek Cypriot side could not camouflage the realities by their claims.

Ertug noted that the Greek Cypriot side couldn’t tolerate the reports’ limited and late reference to the isolations that the Turkish Cypriots had been subject to for the past 50 years and is trying to put the responsibility on the shoulders of Turkey.
