In his statement to the press after the meeting of leaders, UN Secretary General\u2019s Special Advisor on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide said \u201c I was optimistic but now I am more optimistic\u201d.<\/p>\n
Following leaders\u2019 meeting which continued about 4 and half hours within the framework of Cyprus negotiations, Eide read the joint statement. Eide stated \u201c The meeting of leaders was conducted in a very positive atmosphere. Leaders were focused on substantial issues which have not been solved yet. The issues of\u00a0 \u201c governance\u201d, \u201c property\u201d and \u201cterritory criterias\u201d were discussed. Leaders met three times during this week and continued their works regarding substantial issues\u201d.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, stating that leaders exchanged views on the issue of confidence building measures, Eide said that Ak\u0131nc\u0131 and Anastasiades expressed their determination to reach a comprehensive settlement as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
Eide added that leaders will attend an activity organised by Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce and Greek Cypriot Chamber of Commerce and Industry on 8 July and they will also meet with religious leaders on the same day.<\/p>\n
