Structural consolidations and conservation works were implemented with cooperation of the United Nations Development Programme\u00a0Partnership for the Future\u00a0and the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage. The project cost slightly over one million euros, fully funded by the European Union. The opening ceremony of the castle was held last night.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Prime Minister \u00d6zkan Yorganc\u0131o\u011flu, the Minister of Interior Affairs Teberr\u00fcken Ulu\u00e7ay, Gazima\u011fusa Mayor \u0130smail Arter and many other senior officials and many guests from South Cyprus attended the opening ceremony.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot members of the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage, representatives of the European Union and United Nations made speeches during the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speakers Ali Tuncay and Takis Hadjdemetriou gave information about the history of the Othello castle and the technical committee.
