In his short speech ambassador Kanbay said; \u201cWe hope we will do good works in this beautiful country\u201d. President Mustafa Akinci also wished Kanbay to pass his tenure of office in peace and health. Ak\u0131nc\u0131 stated that there are historical and cultural ties between the TRNC and Turkey. Ak\u0131nc\u0131 said: \u201cI wish that friendship and fraternal relations will increase between the two countries.\u201d Ak\u0131nc\u0131 stated that there is an important transition period in the Cyprus issue and said: \u201cI hope to reach an agreement based on confidence and equality. This is common belief of Turkey and the TRNC.
