{"id":138749,"date":"2015-07-29T08:38:07","date_gmt":"2015-07-29T05:38:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/south-cyprus-and-israel-to-work-in-collaboration\/"},"modified":"2015-07-29T08:38:07","modified_gmt":"2015-07-29T05:38:07","slug":"south-cyprus-and-israel-to-work-in-collaboration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/south-cyprus-and-israel-to-work-in-collaboration\/","title":{"rendered":"South Cyprus and Israel to work in collaboration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ecxMsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">South Cyprus and Israel agreed to expand their cooperation on energy issues, such as the use of pipelines and electricity grids so that they can be linked to European markets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxMsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Greek Cypriot Leader Nicos Anastasiades said they would seek to exploit the potential of natural gas in the sea bed beneath both countries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxMsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Israel has reported some of the largest natural gas discoveries worldwide in the past decade, whereas South Cyprus found gas offshore in 2011.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxMsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Netanahyu said the two countries were exploring various options on collaboration, but did not elaborate.
