{"id":138766,"date":"2015-07-31T10:30:29","date_gmt":"2015-07-31T07:30:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/burcu-statements-of-eide-are-not-personal-but-the-common-statements-of-the-leaders\/"},"modified":"2015-07-31T10:30:29","modified_gmt":"2015-07-31T07:30:29","slug":"burcu-statements-of-eide-are-not-personal-but-the-common-statements-of-the-leaders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/burcu-statements-of-eide-are-not-personal-but-the-common-statements-of-the-leaders\/","title":{"rendered":"Burcu: &#8220;Statements of Eide are not personal but the common statements of the leaders\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ecxMsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Presidential Spokesman Baris Burcu <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">pointing to\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"ecxst\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><em><span lang=\"EN-US\">Secretary General&#8217;s<\/span><\/em><span class=\"ecxst\"><i><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/span> <em><span lang=\"EN-US\">Espen Barth Eide<\/span><\/em><i><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u2019s<\/span><\/i><span lang=\"EN-US\"> statements after the leaders meeting on Monday said they were not personal statements but <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">the common statements of the leaders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxMsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Burcu also indicated that the assessments made such as <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">President Ak\u0131nc\u0131 rem<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">ained <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">silent at the meeting were <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">wrong<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxMsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Burcu said that announcements to the public with reference to the negotiation process were made according to the agreements between the two sides under the auspices of the UN. \u201cWe are trying to remain faithful to that agreement\u2019 he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxMsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Responding to criticism that the Turkish press fell short of the Greek Cypriot press with reports on the talks, Burcu said that reports in the Greek Cypriot press did not always reflect the truth and this becomes obvious later on.
