{"id":140033,"date":"2016-07-01T10:57:34","date_gmt":"2016-07-01T07:57:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/two-out-of-three-suspects-of-talat-case-were-acquitted\/"},"modified":"2016-07-01T10:57:34","modified_gmt":"2016-07-01T07:57:34","slug":"two-out-of-three-suspects-of-talat-case-were-acquitted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/two-out-of-three-suspects-of-talat-case-were-acquitted\/","title":{"rendered":"Two out of three suspects of Talat case were acquitted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Two of the three ELAM members who were arrested and charged following an attack on the then Turkish Cypriot President, Mehmet Ali Talat, at a conference in Limassol on 26 March 2014, have been declared innocent by a Greek Cypriot court.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Limassol District Court judge indicated that the Greek Cypriot police mishandled the case on the day and also failed to properly investigate the incident.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the judge\u2019s report, clear evidence could not be obtained as important witnesses broke the law and did not tell the truth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stating that the final decision did not surprise him, Mehmet Ali Talat, the second\u00a0President of the TRNC, stated: \u201cWho did they charge today? The police did not attempt to prevent the incident.
