{"id":140125,"date":"2016-08-17T12:21:16","date_gmt":"2016-08-17T09:21:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/former-foreign-minister-of-the-greek-cypriot-administration-apologizes-to-turkish-cypriots-for-atrocities-at-murataga-atlilar-sandallar-and-dohni\/"},"modified":"2016-08-17T12:21:16","modified_gmt":"2016-08-17T09:21:16","slug":"former-foreign-minister-of-the-greek-cypriot-administration-apologizes-to-turkish-cypriots-for-atrocities-at-murataga-atlilar-sandallar-and-dohni","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/former-foreign-minister-of-the-greek-cypriot-administration-apologizes-to-turkish-cypriots-for-atrocities-at-murataga-atlilar-sandallar-and-dohni\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Foreign Minister of the Greek Cypriot Administration apologizes to Turkish Cypriots for atrocities at Murata\u011fa, Atl\u0131lar, Sandallar and Dohni\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The former Foreign Minister of the Greek Cypriot Administration Erato Kazaku Marcoullis apologised to the Turkish Cypriots for the atrocities committed by Greek Cypriots in Murata\u011fa, Atl\u0131lar, Sandallar and Dohni in 1974.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a post on Facebook, Marcoullis wrote \u201cI feel the need to express a sincere public apology to our Turkish Cypriot compatriots for the horrific crimes committed on 14 August 1974 by EOKA B extremists against 126 women and children in the villages of Murata\u011fa, Atl\u0131lar and Sandallar, and 85 civilian men (including a boy of 12 years old) from the village of Dohni.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cUnfortunately, during the past 42 years no investigation has been conducted by my state to unravel the truth behind these crimes and none of the culprits have been brought to justice. It is time to finally establish a Truth Commission to effectively ascertain the truth behind the recent Cyprus tragedy, because without the truth there will be no reconciliation and without reconciliation there will be no peaceful coexistence.
