{"id":140159,"date":"2016-09-01T14:08:33","date_gmt":"2016-09-01T11:08:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/unsgs-special-adviser-on-cyprus-is-optimistic-about-reaching-a-solution\/"},"modified":"2016-09-01T14:08:33","modified_gmt":"2016-09-01T11:08:33","slug":"unsgs-special-adviser-on-cyprus-is-optimistic-about-reaching-a-solution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/unsgs-special-adviser-on-cyprus-is-optimistic-about-reaching-a-solution\/","title":{"rendered":"UNSG\u2019s Special Adviser on Cyprus is optimistic about reaching a solution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to a report by the Greek Cypriot newspaper Alithia, the UN Secretary General\u2019s Special Advisor on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide wrote an article under the headline \u2018I can see a solution in Cyprus in a few months\u2019 in the Norwegian newspaper Dagsavisen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The article highlights that the next few months will be a crucial period in the Cyprus negotiations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Eide affirmed in his article that both sides believe in a solution and that peace will prevail in Cyprus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While external factors still affect Cyprus, Eide acknowledged that without Turkey&#8217;s strong support, peace will not be possible on the island. Eide also highlighted that a new state structure will be created, as both sides have agreed on power-sharing through a presidential system which will be comprised of an upper and lower house in parliament.
