{"id":140410,"date":"2017-01-09T13:48:44","date_gmt":"2017-01-09T10:48:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/akinci-if-the-way-to-a-solution-way-does-not-become-apparent-in-geneva-then-the-trnc-can-continue-as-a-democratic-free-and-secular-state\/"},"modified":"2017-01-09T13:48:44","modified_gmt":"2017-01-09T10:48:44","slug":"akinci-if-the-way-to-a-solution-way-does-not-become-apparent-in-geneva-then-the-trnc-can-continue-as-a-democratic-free-and-secular-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/akinci-if-the-way-to-a-solution-way-does-not-become-apparent-in-geneva-then-the-trnc-can-continue-as-a-democratic-free-and-secular-state\/","title":{"rendered":"Ak\u0131nc\u0131: \u201cIf the way to a solution way does not become apparent in Geneva then the TRNC can continue as a democratic, free and secular state.\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking in a press conference at Ercan Airport ahead of his departure to the Cyprus negotiations in Geneva, President Mustafa Ak\u0131nc\u0131 stated that the political equality of the Turkish Cypriot people should be embodied in the negotiations in Geneva.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ak\u0131nc\u0131 stated that \u201cif the way to a solution does not become apparent in Geneva then the TRNC can continue as a democratic, free and secular state.\u201d However, the President emphasised that their priority is to establish a federal structure on the island.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ak\u0131nc\u0131 also underlined that the negotiating team does not have a policy either to become a part of South Cyprus or to become a province of Turkey.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">President Ak\u0131nc\u0131 pointed out the importance of the organization of such a conference, the first of its kind for many years.
