{"id":140439,"date":"2017-01-16T11:51:32","date_gmt":"2017-01-16T08:51:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/yildirim-turkeys-guarantees-on-cyprus-cannot-be-given-up-or-abolished\/"},"modified":"2017-01-16T11:51:32","modified_gmt":"2017-01-16T08:51:32","slug":"yildirim-turkeys-guarantees-on-cyprus-cannot-be-given-up-or-abolished","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/yildirim-turkeys-guarantees-on-cyprus-cannot-be-given-up-or-abolished\/","title":{"rendered":"Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m: \u201cTurkey\u2019s guarantees on Cyprus cannot be given up or abolished\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Turkish Prime Minister Binali Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m responded to questions from the media about discussions the previous day in the TBMM General Assembly regarding the first four items of the Constitution and criticism about the Cyprus negotiations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When asked why he did not go to Geneva for the multilateral conference on Thursday, Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m said there was no need to go and asked if he should have gone there to \u201cbarter away\u201d Turkey\u2019s rights in Cyprus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThere is no need to go; the negotiations in Cyprus have been going on for years\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m also talked about Turkey\u2019s conditions and red lines in the negotiations, which he described as clear. Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m said that the conditions are as follows:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Article 1: Regarding Security and Guarantees in Cyprus, Turkey&#8217;s effective guarantee and security cannot be abandoned or removed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Article 2: If a federal state based on two communities in different states is to be established, the administration and the power-sharing mechanisms must be fair and equal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Article 3: Any victimization or the abolition of the vested rights of the Turkish Cypriot side on the issue of territory and property is out of the question.
