Speaking about the Cyprus conference, which is planned to be held in Geneva this month, President Mustafa Ak\u0131nc\u0131 said, \u201cEverything will become clearer within a month, when we meet in Geneva. We will face the reality there\u201d.<\/p>\n
Following his meetings at the United Nations, Ak\u0131nc\u0131 met with Turkish journalists in New York. In his speech, Ak\u0131nc\u0131 said, \u201cIt should not be considered that one side lost while the other side won. We wish to reach a fair settlement based on political equality and security. I think that this Cyprus conference to be held in Geneva with the participation of the guarantor countries should be very carefully evaluated. This is the last chance we have, because a federal solution has been discussed for many years and we have reached a stage where steps forward are being taken on the issues of territory, security and guarantee. I want to stress that we have reached that stage thanks to the serious efforts by both the Turkish Cypriot side and Turkey. We have a very important process ahead, and everyone should be aware of their responsibilities. The decision taken in New York is the first step. The most important stage will be the conference in Geneva. We should reach a solution on all chapters in Geneva. Geneva can\u2019t be considered an intermediate phase. This will be a \u2018solution-conference\u2019 and in the case we cannot reach a solution, we should communicate this to our communities\u201d.<\/p>\n
Adding that in Geneva all issues will be discussed in parallel, Ak\u0131nc\u0131 underlined, \u201cNothing is agreed until\u00a0everything is\u00a0agreed\u201d.<\/p>\n
Drawing attention to the unilateral natural gas exploration that the Greek Cypriot Administration might start in July, Ak\u0131nc\u0131 said, \u201cWe referred to the natural gas issue and to the elections to be held in South Cyprus during our meeting and warned about the vital importance of June\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
