President Mustafa Ak\u0131nc\u0131 said, \u201cWe are trying to do our best for future generations, that\u2019s why we are focused on our responsibilities. We are here to take the Turkish Cypriot people and our island to a better future in peace. I hope our determination to finding a solution is not unreciprocated\u201d.<\/p>\n
Ak\u0131nc\u0131, who is in Crans-Montana for the Cyprus conference, made a written statement yesterday.<\/p>\n
In his statement, Ak\u0131nc\u0131 said, \u201cOn 28 June 2017, two parallel groups began to work in Crans-Montana. We want this Cyprus Conference to be the final conference. That\u2019s why we did not approve the proposal of the Greek Cypriot side to transfer some issues to the technical committees\u201d. Ak\u0131nc\u0131 also added that the decision to discuss important issues together as a package and solve them was made last Friday with the participation of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. \u201cWithin this framework, we are continuing to work on our initiatives \u00a0with our political parties, the Turkish Foreign Minister and his colleagues to reach an agreement based on bi-zonality, bi-communality and political equality of both sides\u201d President Ak\u0131nc\u0131 said.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Ak\u0131nc\u0131 stressed the importance of this week and said that it will be of vital importance for Cyprus and the region.<\/p>\n
As part of the preparatory work for the Cyprus conference, Ak\u0131nc\u0131 met with Deputy Prime Minister and DP Leader Serdar Denkta\u015f, Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu, political party leaders and deputies yesterday. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevl\u00fct \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu, CTP Leader Tufan Erh\u00fcrman, TDP Leader Cemal \u00d6zyi\u011fit, Deputies Arma\u011fan Candan and Zeki \u00c7eler and O\u011fuzhan Hasipo\u011flu from the UBP also participated in the meeting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
