{"id":141095,"date":"2017-12-11T13:03:42","date_gmt":"2017-12-11T10:03:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/erdogan-turkish-cypriots-will-never-be-a-minority-on-the-island-of-which-they-are-joint-owners\/"},"modified":"2017-12-11T13:03:42","modified_gmt":"2017-12-11T10:03:42","slug":"erdogan-turkish-cypriots-will-never-be-a-minority-on-the-island-of-which-they-are-joint-owners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/erdogan-turkish-cypriots-will-never-be-a-minority-on-the-island-of-which-they-are-joint-owners\/","title":{"rendered":"Erdo\u011fan: \u201cTurkish Cypriots will never be a minority\u00a0on the island of which they are joint owners\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan rebuffed perceptions of Cyprus as a \u201cHellenic island\u201d in a statement yesterday, saying, \u201cI would like to clearly express that the dreams of these Greek Cypriots will never come true and that the Turkish Cypriots will never be a minority, as the Greek Cypriots wish, on the island of which they are joint owners.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Emphasising that Greek Cypriots have serious issues in their approach to the negotiations that have been ongoing for half a century, in terms of power-sharing in the new partnership state, President Erdo\u011fan added, \u201cThey [Greek Cypriots] still perceive Cyprus as a Hellenic island.
