The SEC list also includes 9 independent candidates, 120 female candidates and 7 candidates with disabilities. The election will be held on 7 January 2018, when 188,688 voters will cast their votes for a new government.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2018, the new Election and Referendum (amendment) Law will come into force, effectively categorizing the TRNC as a single general electoral district, with voters selecting 50 candidates from 6 districts according to a preferential voting system where candidates are ranked in order of voters\u2019 preference.
