The map, which was originally presented to the UN, was withdrawn on request of President Mustafa Ak\u0131nc\u0131.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Both the Turkish Cypriot and the Greek Cypriot sides had prepared maps within the framework of the Conference on Cyprus as part of talks on the issue of territory. The UN had locked the maps away at\u00a0UN Headquarters in Geneva.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After a declaration by the Greek Cypriot side that the Conference on Cyprus had ended in failure, the Greek Cypriots announced that they had withdrawn all proposals made during the conference.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In response, President Mustafa Ak\u0131nc\u0131 informed the UN of his wish to withdraw the Turkish Cypriots\u2019 map which was locked up in a safe in UN Headquarters in Geneva, and requested its return. Following his request, Head of the Office of the Special Advisor to the UN Secretary-General Sergiy Illarianov personally delivered the map to President Ak\u0131nc\u0131 last December.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cMr. Illarianov picked up the map from Geneva and delivered it personally to President Mustafa Ak\u0131nc\u0131 in December in the presence of the negotiating team.
