{"id":141164,"date":"2018-02-15T12:02:15","date_gmt":"2018-02-15T09:02:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/martyred-deputy-cengiz-ratip-remembered-on-the-54th-anniversary-of-his-death\/"},"modified":"2018-02-15T12:02:15","modified_gmt":"2018-02-15T09:02:15","slug":"martyred-deputy-cengiz-ratip-remembered-on-the-54th-anniversary-of-his-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/martyred-deputy-cengiz-ratip-remembered-on-the-54th-anniversary-of-his-death\/","title":{"rendered":"Martyred Deputy Cengiz Ratip remembered on the 54th anniversary of his death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cengiz Ratip, who was martyred while serving as a member of the Turkish Community Assembly, was remembered on the 54<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of his death at the Martyr Cengiz Ratip Library at the TRNC Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>Cengiz Ratip\u2019s son, Mustafa Kemal G\u00f6keri, and Speaker of the Assembly Teberr\u00fcken Ulu\u00e7ay spoke at the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>Ratip, who was elected as a Member of Parliament on 10<sup>th<\/sup> of September 1961, was killed in an ambush by Greek Cypriots in Poli on the 14<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of February 1964. His remains have not yet been found.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the ceremony, his son Mustafa Kemal G\u00f6keri said that his father was the only martyred deputy and that he was killed in an ambush by Greek Cypriots while on duty at 33 years of age.
