{"id":141183,"date":"2018-02-26T13:43:29","date_gmt":"2018-02-26T10:43:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/turkish-minister-for-eu-affairs-both-turkish-cypriot-side-and-the-greek-cypriot-side-should-give-their-consent\/"},"modified":"2018-02-26T13:43:29","modified_gmt":"2018-02-26T10:43:29","slug":"turkish-minister-for-eu-affairs-both-turkish-cypriot-side-and-the-greek-cypriot-side-should-give-their-consent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/turkish-minister-for-eu-affairs-both-turkish-cypriot-side-and-the-greek-cypriot-side-should-give-their-consent\/","title":{"rendered":"Turkish Minister for EU Affairs: \u201cBoth Turkish Cypriot side and the Greek Cypriot side should give their consent\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Turkey\u2019s Minister for European Union Affairs and Chief Negotiator, \u00d6mer \u00c7elik, has stated that there must be a mutual consent of the Turkish Cypriot side and the Greek Cypriot side regarding hydrocarbon explorations, as both sides share ownership in the Eastern Mediterranean.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking to the press, \u00c7elik reiterated that the Greek Cypriot\u2019s EU enforcement initiative is \u201cin question\u201d after the tensions arose due to their unilateral exploration activities in the Eastern Mediterranean.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00c7elik added: \u00a0&#8220;We are discussing these issues, but the stance of the\u00a0Greek Cypriots is wrong, as is the biased stance of the EU.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00c7elik reiterated that the European Union made a \u201cmistake\u201d by accepting the Greek Cypriot side as a member after they voted down the 2004 Annan Plan to reunify the island, noting that this decision failed to solve the border issue, and the fundamental issues with the Turkish Cypriots.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00c7elik underlined that the Greek Cypriot Administration\u2019s activities were a violation of the rights of both\u00a0Turkish Cypriots and the Republic of Turkey under international law.
