The Turkish Deputy Prime Minister also in charge of Cyprus Affairs, Recep Akda\u011f, held bilateral meetings in the TRNC yesterday. Within the scope of his TRNC visit, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Akda\u011f was first received by President Mustafa Ak\u0131nc\u0131. The meeting was held closed to press.<\/p>\n
Deputy Prime Minister Recep Akda\u011f was also received by Prime Minister Tufan Erh\u00fcrman. In a statement afterwards, Akda\u011f addressed the events taking place in Palestine, saying, \u201cThe brutal attitude of Israel causes us grief\u201d<\/p>\n
Adding that the Turkish Cypriot people know very well the cruelty that is being experienced in Palestine, Akda\u011f emphasized Turkey\u2019s support for the Turkish Cypriots. The importance of Turkey\u2019s guarantee in Cyprus has become particularly clear in light of these recent incidents, Akda\u011f said, and continued, \u201cIt is our duty to protect your [the Turkish Cypriot people\u2019s] security. We cannot separate our past, present and future.\u201d<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Tufan Erh\u00fcrman for his part said that the events in Palestine deeply saddened the Turkish Cypriot people as well, and added that the developments were unacceptable.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe developments in Palestine raise serious questions about the prospects for peace in the region, and the international reactions to Israel\u2019s actions are not at the level that we desired. We hope similar responses will be shown to that of Turkey. This situation is also highly troubling with regards to world peace,\u201d Erh\u00fcrman said.<\/p>\n
Deputy Prime Minister Akda\u011f also met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kudret \u00d6zersay, and concluded his visit by attending the first fast-breaking dinner organized by the Cyprus Vak\u0131flar Administration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
