{"id":141455,"date":"2018-10-17T13:07:05","date_gmt":"2018-10-17T10:07:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/ozersay-and-cavusoglu-held-a-joint-press-conference\/"},"modified":"2018-10-17T13:07:05","modified_gmt":"2018-10-17T10:07:05","slug":"ozersay-and-cavusoglu-held-a-joint-press-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/ozersay-and-cavusoglu-held-a-joint-press-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00d6zersay and \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu held\u00a0a\u00a0joint press conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kudret \u00d6zersay held a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevl\u00fct \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">In his speech at the press conference, \u00d6zersay said that they have\u00a0had\u00a0consultations regarding the future of the Cyprus Island and the hydrocarbon wealth in the Eastern Mediterranean.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Referring to the report by Guterres, \u00d6zersay underlined that the\u00a0Secretary-General &#8220;had made realistic evaluations.&#8221; He also pointed to the necessity of maintaining dialogue. Both sides\u00a0need\u00a0to have common vision and aim for the future. We always stress this.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">In his speech Turkish Foreign Minister Cavuso\u011flu said that they evaluated the latest situation related to the negotiations after\u00a0Crans-Montana\u00a0and what they have to do about the exploration of natural gas reserves in the island and what can be done against unilateral steps\u00a0being\u00a0taken.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Pointing out that recently some countries have established triple and\u00a0quadruple\u00a0contacts with the Greek Cypriot side,\u00a0Cavuso\u011flu said that they evaluated how they can protect the rights and interests of Turkey and the TRNC against these.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Stressing that it was important that the UN Secretary General did not insisted on any state or solution model in his report Cavuso\u011flu said that they will respond to the unilateral steps taken related to hydrocarbon issue in the Eastern Mediterranean and the timing of this was also discussed at the meeting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Cavusoglu said: \u201cTurkey has been repeatedly stressing that Turkish Cypriots have rights to the resources around the area and rejecting the Greek Cypriot Administration&#8217;s unilateral drilling activity in the Eastern Mediterranean. We shall never regret to take steps in order to protect the rights and interests of Turkey and\u00a0the\u00a0Turkish Cypriot side. We want a permanent solution and peace. Turkey has shown this to the whole world from the beginning not only with her statements but with her steps as well.
