The National Unity Party (UBP) MP Ersan Saner and the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) MP Arma\u011fan Candan have attended the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Winter Season Sessions, held on 21-25 January 2019 in Strasbourg, on behalf of the TRNC Assembly. The delegation attended the meetings of the Political Affairs and Democracy, Culture and Education, Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons, Social Affairs, and meetings of the Equality and Non-Discrimination Committee.<\/p>\n
In addition Saner and Candan attended the meeting of the Committee of Legal Affairs and Human Rights on 22 January which was regarding the \u2018The Implementation of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights \u2013 10th Report: Turkey and Ukraine\u2019 at which Greek Member of Parliament Evangelos Venizelos participated as the reporter.<\/p>\n
In his criticism regarding the report, Saner said only the suffering of the Greek Cypriots has been included in the information regarding Cyprus. Adding that the violation of the property rights of the Turkish Cypriots and the missing persons\u2019 cases before 1974 have not been included, Saner said that Cengiz Ratip, who is still missing, was a member of parliament but all these realities have not been included in the report.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, in his speech, Arma\u011fan Candan said that it is a serious deficiency not to include the suffering of the Turkish Cypriots in the report. Candan stressed that the cases of the missing Turkish Cypriot people which occurred before 1974 should not be forgotten.
