Presidential Spokesperson Bar\u0131\u015f Burcu made a statement following the meeting of President Mustafa Ak\u0131nc\u0131 with the UN Secretary General\u2019s Temporary Envoy on Cyprus Jane Holl Lute. Burcu said that they have determined that the Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiades has not yet given up his negative attitude regarding the political equality and active participation in the decisions.<\/p>\n

Burcu stated \u201cThe Greek Cypriot side does not respect the past consensus and is not ready to accept the frame submitted by Guterres on 30th June. This will also reflect in the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres\u2019 report to be submitted in the following days. There has been an attempt to create a sense as if there are \u2018new views\u2019 and the Greek Cypriot side proposed a rotating Prime Ministry instead of a rotating Presidency. This is not true. The negotiations started on 15 May 2015 and after 15 days, the Greek Cypriot side brought this proposal to the negotiation table. It was discussed but refused. Afterwards, they were also convinced and thus they did not support it and a consensus was produced on the rotating Presidency.
