{"id":141766,"date":"2019-05-02T11:16:05","date_gmt":"2019-05-02T08:16:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/ozersay-the-price-of-short-sightedness-of-15-years-ago-has-been-high\/"},"modified":"2019-05-02T11:16:05","modified_gmt":"2019-05-02T08:16:05","slug":"ozersay-the-price-of-short-sightedness-of-15-years-ago-has-been-high","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/ozersay-the-price-of-short-sightedness-of-15-years-ago-has-been-high\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00d6zersay: \u201cThe price of short-sightedness of 15 years ago has been high\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kudret \u00d6zersay stated that it has become clearer in the last years that it was a wrong decision to make the Greek Cypriot side an EU member unilaterally 15 years ago on 1 May 2004, who prevented solution of the Cyprus problem, and stressed that the Turkish Cypriot people have paid the price of this wrong decision.<\/p>\n<p>Minister \u00d6zersay added that this unjust EU membership was an unfair action which was against the EU\u2019s own values and we as the Turkish Cypriots have paid the price of this unfairness for the last 15 years. This short-sightedness caused the Turkish Cypriot side to move further away from a solution and the Greek Cypriot side securing a greater comfort zone.
