{"id":141960,"date":"1970-01-01T00:00:00","date_gmt":"1969-12-31T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/sentop-an-approach-which-accepts-political-equality-and-guarantees-security-of-the-turkish-cypriots-should-be-taken-as-a-basis\/"},"modified":"1970-01-01T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"1969-12-31T22:00:00","slug":"sentop-an-approach-which-accepts-political-equality-and-guarantees-security-of-the-turkish-cypriots-should-be-taken-as-a-basis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/sentop-an-approach-which-accepts-political-equality-and-guarantees-security-of-the-turkish-cypriots-should-be-taken-as-a-basis\/","title":{"rendered":"\u015eentop: \u201cAn approach which accepts political equality and guarantees security of the Turkish Cypriots should be taken as a basis\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Ersin Tatar who departed for Ankara to attend a panel entitled \u201cThe Last Word in Cyprus\u201d and to hold some official contacts, paid his first visit to the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Mustafa \u015eentop.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Stating that the Turkish Cypriots have struggled for more than 50 years for existence, \u015eentop said that Turkey always stands by the Turkish Cypriots and acts together with the TRNC.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Adding that Turkey is doing whatever is necessary to reach a sustainable and fair settlement in Cyprus, \u015eentop pointed out that a basis which accepts the political equality and guarantees the security of the Turkish Cypriots should be adopted. \u201cThe Greek Cypriots consider themselves as the sole owner of the island and use the economic opportunities, but this is wrong. They have no such right\u201d \u015eentop added.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Stating that he evaluated the latest developments on the Cyprus problem with \u015eentop, Prime Minister Tatar referred to the decisions taken recently by the government, statements, Turkey\u2019s support for the drilling and research studies in the Eastern Mediterranean and opening of Mara\u015f.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tatar stressed that Turkey\u2019s guarantee should continue at each stage whether a solution is reached or not. Expressing that many bad tactics have been played in the past and now imperialist powers apply pressure for resumption of the negotiations, Tatar referred to New York contacts and said that we should be very careful in New York.
