{"id":142241,"date":"2020-07-14T11:35:15","date_gmt":"2020-07-14T08:35:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/letter-from-ozersay-to-the-eu-and-un\/"},"modified":"2020-07-14T11:35:15","modified_gmt":"2020-07-14T08:35:15","slug":"letter-from-ozersay-to-the-eu-and-un","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/letter-from-ozersay-to-the-eu-and-un\/","title":{"rendered":"Letter from \u00d6zersay to the EU and UN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kudret \u00d6zersay sent a letter to the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and President of EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen and called them to end the arbitrary and prohibitive applications of the Greek Cypriot administration for preventing foreigners who arrived in the south from crossing over to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.<\/p>\n<p>In a written statement, \u00d6zersay said that the new restrictions set at the crossing points by the Greek Cypriot authorities had nothing to do with health or the Coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis ill-intended move is aimed solely at the TRNC economy,\u201d \u00d6zersay stressed.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the move was aimed at preventing all tourism activities to be carried out via South Cyprus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been conveying this to the United Nations and our European Union counterparts since July 1st.
